La Sauvageraie Truffle Hunt – Forest forage and harvest lunch in Bonvillars
A truffle hunt on an organic Jura farm
About this experience
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Overview
La Sauvageraie truffle hunt in Bonvillars takes place on a certified organic farm in the Jura foothills. The farm is north of Lake Neuchatel, in the canton of Vaud. The farm holds Demeter biodynamic certification and produces its own vegetables and vines.
Frank Siffert and Annie Ryter lead the morning session into the surrounding woodland with trained truffle dogs. Over two hours, the group searches the forest floor for wild Burgundy and Perigord truffles.
After the forest walk, the afternoon moves into the kitchen at La Sauvageraie for a truffle cooking workshop. The kitchen has a wood-burning stove. In autumn, the smell of fresh truffle fills the room as soon as Frank weighs the day’s harvest. Frank prepares appetisers, a main course, and a tasting plate. Each dish shows how different truffle varieties behave differently in heat. Frank serves the Burgundy truffle raw and shaved; he warms the Perigord briefly in butter. At the end, the group gathers for a full harvest lunch at the farm table. Each place includes a glass of the farm’s natural wine.
