Chaplin’s World – Charlie Chaplin’s home and studio above Vevey
The Manoir de Ban, Chaplin's home for 25 years
About this experience
Last updated: 10 October 2026
Overview
Chaplin’s World occupies the Manoir de Ban, the house where Charlie Chaplin spent his last twenty-five years. He chose the property above Vevey in 1952 and settled there with Oona and their eight children. The manor still holds family photographs, handwritten notes and his correspondence. Next door, The Studio covers 1,350 square metres of recreated film sets. Meanwhile, four hectares of park surround both buildings, with the Alps across the water. Consequently, the visit splits in two: the private man, then the work.
We started in the manor, where the rooms keep their 1950s furniture and the windows face Lake Geneva. Afterwards, The Studio changes register completely. You walk onto the set of The Kid, then Modern Times, then The Great Dictator. A recreated stretch of Hollywood Boulevard carries his Walk of Fame star. Wax figures stand close enough to touch. Meanwhile, children tend to find the sets first and the biography later. Outside, the park gives space for a slow hour before the bus back down.
Practical Information
Chaplin’s World charges CHF 30 for adults aged 16 to 59, and CHF 22 for ages 6 to 15. Seniors over 60 pay CHF 29, and students with ID pay CHF 25. Children under 6 enter free. Alternatively, dated tickets booked at least two days ahead start at CHF 24 for adults and CHF 17 for youths. Visitors with disabilities pay CHF 25 and CHF 17. Opening hours change with the season, generally 10:00 to 18:00 in summer and 10:00 to 17:00 in winter. The museum closes on 1 January and from 11 to 22 January 2027. Allow at least two hours for both buildings and the park.
Bus 212 from Vevey station reaches the Chaplin stop in about 15 minutes. By car, the A9 motorway exit lies five minutes away. Parking costs CHF 5 per day with an admission ticket, and two charging points serve electric cars. Bring your own cable. Book at chaplinsworld.com to fix a date and secure the lower fare. Lifts and level flooring cover most of the site. However, parts of the gravel car park climb steeply. Staff keep one wheelchair for loan on request. The address is Rte de Fenil 2, 1804 Corsier-sur-Vevey.
