Our anticipation of that escapade started weeks before as we prepared for our visit to Pontresina in the Engadin valley. Despite all the preparation and anticipation yet we were awe-struck when we met the two… The first royalty – Grand Hotel Kronenhof Pontresina – labeled as The Grande Dame of Engadin, had a golden crown on top of its building. The second royalty is the majestic nature of Engadine and its valley, dressed with several white crowns on top of its mountains!

The moment we set foot inside Grand Hotel Kronenhof Pontresina, the sheer magnificence of Engadin’s panoramas overwhelmed us. From every vantage point we were greeted with awe-inspiring vistas. Snow-capped peaks piercing the sky, lush valleys stretching as far as the eye could see. From Rosatch Glacier on the left, all the way to the crystalline river meandering through the verdant landscapes, to the right. The views alone were worth the trip!
The windows and balconies were like an invisible border between the two majestic worlds. You look outside and you get stunned by the natural beauty. You turn inside and the elegant interior embraces you. Our stay was basically a continuous alternation of the two worlds, which at certain moments seemed to have merged together.

From the Tea time salon, to the cigar lounge to the colourful Bar. Each space had its unique style but all as elegant and tastefully furnished. We were moving from one location to another to enjoy the whole area. The staircase was so stylish that we kept using it instead of the elevator! Our room was a showcase of elegance and individuality. Every detail was meticulously curated. We were told that no two rooms were alike, offering a personalised touch that made us feel truly special. From the luxurious furnishings to the thoughtful amenities, we felt pampered and embraced by comfort. The balcony and window of the room had also an amazing view. It stretches 180 degrees from the far mountain peaks till the river running next to the hotel’s garden.

As we entered the tranquil space, a feeling of soothing aromas and calming melodies embraced us. The luxurious pool area offered panoramic views of Engadine’s natural wonders, creating an idyllic setting to unwind. The SPA design reflects the modern architecture part of the hotel. Huge oval shape dome of glass and steel columns that shows the outside beauty of Engadin, while at the same time encloses the insider in a calm and relaxing atmosphere. On top of the stunning pool, there is a mega jacuzzi adjacent to it. Inside there are multiple saunas and several treatment rooms. The stunning and distinctive SPA zone places Kronenhof among best SPA hotels in Switzerland.

Dining at the hotel’s restaurant was an unforgettable journey of gastronomic pleasures. The expert chefs skillfully prepared dishes that celebrated the finest cuisines, using locally sourced, fresh ingredients. Each plate was a work of art, reflecting the hotel’s commitment to culinary excellence. What made the dinning experience so unique is the historic dining salle. The decorated walls, the stunning chandeliers and the live piano music create a wonderful romantic atmosphere that accentuates the pleasure of dinning. What elevated the experience further, is the impeccable serves. The staff elegantly and classically dressed, attend to every request and every detail!
We were very pleased to come back within hours to the salle as the lavish breakfast was also served there. Starting our morning in the chic historic salle was a delightful experience. The breakfast serves all the delicacies one can wish for, and on addition you can request any eggs recipe. The Eggs Benedict are to die for and if you want to go classic don’t skip the omelette! The bakeries are very tasty and the croissants so crunchy!
Outdoor Terrace of Hotel Kronenhof: A Symphony of Sights
The hotel’s outdoor terrace was our favourite spot to soak in the splendor of Engadin’s natural wonders. We spent countless moments here, captivated by the panoramic views that stretched as far as the eye could see. The terrace was like a gateway to the soul of Engadin. A beautiful green garden stretches between the Terrace and the SPA. Such an amazing place to chill and sip on a cocktail or just surrender to the warmth of Engadin’s sun.
Kids’ Paradise: Fun for the Little Ones
For families the hotel’s dedicated Kids Club is a blessing. It offersa spectrum of activities that keeps the younger guests entertained and engaged. While the little ones are occupied with their adventures, the adults has the chance to enjoy their own moments of relaxation and indulgence. Also the SPA has a kids zone were they can play freely all time.
The particular thing is that the hotel has a separate dinning salle for the kids so the parents can enjoy a moment of fine dinning in tranquility.

A visit to Silvaplana Lake revealed a pristine oasis with azure waters, ideal for water sports and leisurely picnics. We were very lucky during our visit to witness countless surfers as they transformed the lake into a surfing arena. No wonder Silvaplana is being called the Hawaii of Switzerland.Hiking around Lake Sils immersed us in the tranquil beauty of the region, surrounded by lush forests and majestic peaks. If you want to have a special experience then ride the motor boat that goes around the lake or have a picnic on the green grass shoring the lake. The views are simply breathtaking.
Just from the doorsteps of Hotel Kronenhof we had a leisurely stroll on the main street of Pontresina village. The calmness and beautiful architecture of the village gives a feeling of peacefulness and amazing tranquility.
Our trip to Muottas Muragl via the funicular culminated in witnessing a breathtaking sunset that painted the sky in hues of gold and orange. Etching a memory that will forever hold a place in our hearts. The hike from Muottas Muragl is amazing with the breathtaking view accompanying throughout almost all the route. The vistas over the lakes of Engadin is out of this world. You can put the different lakes including Silvaplana and St. Moritz shining in the fading Sunset, unmatchable!
